Description

Cover for the book "Predator's Gold" (Harper Collins Publishing) that just came out this month (November).
Done in Photoshop.
Note that the greens in the small city are not a mistake. It's supposed to increase the symbols of hope and light in the Arctic environment.
This image is only the front of the book. To see the FULL PAINTING (front and back) click on the link below.

Wow. This is fantastic. The soft mist over the ice like that makes it look so cold. Effective use of light and colour. It makes me want to read the book. I checked out the final front cover on amazon.com, though, disappointing to say the least. That typo is really ugly and cumbersome and does not do this painting justice. Whoever did it needs a slap. :p But anyway amazing work. Well done. +8

wow, this is stunning, the composition in the small one is not bad but the composition in the big one is just great. Also that detail of the green that disturbed me in the small version fits perfectly in the full ver.
what else to say...? well, I can't find anything to crit... ^^

Amazing. I love the sky the most, even though the rest of the picture is also nothing short of gorgeous. The mood is great too.

The perspective on the small city bothers me, but that might be just me.

Excellent depth and perspective. You usually work with traditional media, and this is the first computer generated work I've seen from you. Well done.

Tu obra es maravillosa porque me gusto mucho el color que me sensacion muy agradable por eso yo extraño mucho al bosque como esta obra. Mi bosque es gris porque como crees que vivo la ciudad de México. Jejeje.
TE FELICITO HASTA TE VOTO.

I first saw this in my d'Artiste book and i was simply amazed by all the details and the feel it has to it. The colors and lighting used is pure eyecandy.

I absolutly love the way you paint and i cannot wait to see your next piece. ;)

Gorgeous! A beautiful and well executed landscape. I know you say the greens are not a mistake, and so I imagine many people have critiqued them. I think they work and the addition of color in these area is a welcome addition to the pallete of colors you chose here.

Thank you guys for all the comments and positive feedback, and thanks again to Philip who put my image in "D'Artiste".
I would just like to address a note to people who thought this was my first digital painting: I have other digital paintings in my posted images.
"Highland Warriors" is a Photoshop painting (although I have to admit it wasn't my best), and all the paintings I've done on Disney's "Treasure Planet" and posted were done with a program called "Digpaint", an equivalent of Photoshop at Disney.
Just a note.

Avatar DigitalDust

 11/17/04 @913

Vach - This is just a testament that your Photoshop technique doesn't vary much from your oil painting one, which is a tremendous mind blower. ~:0

But leave it up to the publisher to muck it all up with text/title placement... (ragingani)

vacher

 11/17/04 @976

Digital Dust: Well, I actually wish I could put my hands on that too. I'm generally pretty disappointed to see the way text/title placement and cropping eventually look in the final cover.

When I saw this I thought wow! I love the colours and the style, beautiful. I just bought the book waiting for it to arrive, it's hard to see the picture of this on it online because the images are too small so I will have a better look when the book arrives, can't wait brilliant piece! I hope to become an illustrator someday if you have any tips I would be truly grateful thanks
